Free Meme Generator — Create Viral Memes Online
Meme Xpress Generator is a free online meme maker that runs entirely in your browser. Pick one of meme format guides, upload your own photo, or generate a brand-new image with AI image generation, then add captions and download a high-resolution PNG. There is no signup, no watermark, and AI generation is subject to availability and rate limits.
What you can do with Meme Xpress Generator
Choose from classic and current formats including Drake Hotline Bling, Distracted Boyfriend, This Is Fine, Bernie Sanders "Once Again Asking", and dozens more. The previews are original caption layouts, not licensed reproductions of the named memes. Upload an image you have permission to use for the recognizable version. Each layout opens in a live editor where you can set top and bottom text, change the font family, size, colour, bold and italic styling, and drag each caption anywhere on the image. The preview updates as you type, so you see the finished meme before you export it.
AI image generation for memes
If no existing template fits your joke, describe the scene you want and the built-in AI image generator creates an original picture you can caption immediately. This is useful for niche in-jokes, brand memes, and formats that do not exist yet. Prompts work best when they name the subject, the setting, and the mood.
Other free tools
The site also includes a Brat generator for lime-green album-style text images, a browser-based GIF maker that converts short videos into shareable GIFs without watermarks, a dedicated AI image generation page, and a template library with individual pages explaining the origin and best use of each popular meme.
How to make a meme in three steps
First, pick a template, upload an image, or generate one with AI. Second, type your top and bottom captions and adjust the font, colour, size and position until the meme reads clearly on a phone screen. Third, click download to save a full-resolution PNG, then share it on Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, WhatsApp or Discord.
